Hi to everyone! Today I will talk about the Doctor Pedro Maldonado’s presentation, and specificly about the “myths and truths about the human brain”.
Well, for starters it is important to mention that the "human brain" is a complex issue, but also wonderfully interesting, because it is the structure of the body that governs all our behavior, including our emotions, for this reason that the human brain is full of myths about which Dr. Pedro Maldonado spoke and clarified in his interesting talk.
Among the myths that Dr. Maldonado said is the "Size and shape of the brain", this issue is very interesting because when compare the human brain with that of other species, are impressive both differences and similarities in the structure and size this structure, for example, the animal that is more like the brain to us humans is the "chimp" and on the opposite side, we find a staggering difference in the convolutions, size, shape, etc., which has an animal as small as squirrels, which have a very small brain, poor convolutions, which realizes the regarding the complexity of functions performed by agencies related to the characteristics of the brain of each species.
Another controversial issue about the brain, is the comparison made of this structure with a computer. Although this myth has been useful in cognitive psychology, neuro sciences research. Cognitive has revealed many important differences between the brains and computers, these differences could be crucial for understand the neural mechanisms of information processing that certainly is much more complex than a computer.
Well finally, it is important to note that the brain is a complex issue and actually engaging, as well as having important for all of us, knowledge of its early development and its functions are essential for understanding many of our behaviors and impressed by how amazing it is the perfection of this structure.
