Hi! Today I'm going to talk about education and prevention in my profession.
To begin, I will discuss health issues in education, is an example of education on nutrition, which in my profession is important to promote proper feeding for people, especially women during pregnancy, to prevent complications for the fetus and for their personal welfare.
The prevention of adverse situations that may affect health is really important and also to emphasize the risk factors for developing various diseases and disorders that impair the well-being of the persons. An example of midwives related to ways of prevention is "prenatal control", where are seeks to prevent complications during pregnancy to promote maternal and fetal health, in this control are including the maternal education in various aspects for example breastfeeding and the importance that this have for the proper food of the future baby.
As midwives the education that we make is focused mainly on women, however, as health professionals our role is educate the entire community to promote good health and prevent diseases, such as sexually transmitted diseases, educating to the population sexually active about methods to prevent this diseases.
Finally, it is important to note that especially in Chile, despite having many tools to learn, has a major flaw in health care, a clear example is the high rate of obesity in our country. For these reasons we emphasize educating to the persons about how to lead a healthy life and thus be able to prevent both obesity and others various situations, that in the case of our work as midwives especially affects pregnant patients because they are exposes to risk to affect to the new life to come in way and also her health.
